Coming Home - douging

On August 3, 2019 I rented a UHaul truck and trailer to haul the CJ2A home. It was only the third time in 70 years this Jeep has left the family's service shop.

Towing the Willys with the UHaul trailer was pretty easy overall but the dimensions are tight. The track width of the Willys barely leaves enough room on the inside of the loading ramps. There's only an inch or two on both sides. I also spun the rear tires on the first try. Also, the front tire straps are not quite wide enough to completely cover the tire so we backed those up with chains on the front cross-member. Once on the road the Jeep didn't move at all.

It's now home in my garage where I will focus on making it roadworthy. It may not be pretty but at least I can say it drove in under its own power. It needs brakes badly (master cylinder and lines). And I'll work on wiring up the lights and maybe some gauges. Otherwise I just need to save up for a new (or used) body tub.
